The 125th anniversary of the invention of the car, the fascination of the romantic Christmas markets in Germany, the boisterous carnival celebrations of Germany’s “5th season” as well as the large variety of possibilities for winter holidays are the main themes of Welcome to Germany’s winter edition 2011/12.

For example, visitors to Baden-Württemberg will be able to experience a second Automobile Summer 2012 presenting numerous events and tourist highlights based around the themes of the car and mobility.

As usual, this issue of Welcome to Germany also informs on attractive tourist routes and regions like e.g. Saxony’s Steam Train Route, the Celic Route in the western part of Germany, the German Half-Timbered House Road and last but not least on Germany’s unique wine regions.

Visitors who enjoy exciting events and places will find information on the further events following in Luther’s footsteps during the Luther Decade 2008-2017 and on discoveries in Germany’s most beautiful show-caves. The section Germany’s Fascinating Towns presents short portraits of 12 interesting small towns throughout the country.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities there is a wealth of information on attractive quality-tested hiking trails. The travel tips are rounded off with an article on fabulous leisure opportunities with adrenalin kicks in the Ruhr region.
